Namaste

Hi there

I thought I'd just write you a quick little post explaining my use of namaste at the end of my posts.

I enjoy meditation and yoga and the whole culture surrounding it. I'm not going to talk about religion (that's far too deep and controversial for me to start getting into here). In my opinion, everyone has their own views and they are welcome to those views as long as they do not press them upon anyone else or use them against anyone else. This blog is not the place for any of those views to be expressed.
I look at yoga and meditation in a non religious way; I see them as a form of relaxation and exercise - nothing more. Everyone practices them in their own way and for their own reasons and that's brilliant.

Anyway, back to the point of this post! Namaste is used as a greeting or farewell and means "I honour the place within you in which the entire universe dwells. I honour the place within you which is of love, of truth, of light and of peace. When you are in that place within you and I am in that place within me, we are one". I think that's beautiful. We are all a part of this universe in whatever way you prefer to believe and there is love, truth, light (in whatever way you take this to mean), and peace within each and every person.

I'm not a Wikipedia page so I have no desire to put every detail about the phrase in this post, I'm sure you could go look it up if you're interested.

I think it's beautiful, no matter whether you look at it religiously or not. I think it forms some sort of a bond between people when used as a mutual greeting or farewell.

I hope I haven't bored you to tears with this! Next post will be more lively, promise (I hope)!

Namaste
